The theory test is split into two sections:
- Part 1 – 50 multiple choice questions based on the Highway Code.The test is taken using a touch screen computer and is to be completed in 57 minutes. You must get 43 out of the 50 questions correct to pass.
- Part 2 – 14 Hazard Perception video clipsYou will be shown a series of video clips and you have to identify the hazard as quick as possible to score. The quicker you are, the higher your score. You must score 44 out of a possible 75 points to pass.
You need to pass both parts to give an overall pass mark.
If you fail either section, you will need to retake the whole test again.

The test costs £23.00, the nearest theory test centres are Cambridge, Stevenage or Luton.
